ZATAC maintains the ZATAC Investment Fund (ZIF),
which was established as a lending facility with equity fund for
the purpose of enhancing the expansion of smallholder-produced
agricultural products. The Fund is primarily used to issue small
loans that can be leveraged by agribusinesses to access larger
loans for business development and expansion. Ultimate beneficiaries
of ZIF-funded activities should be small-scale producers of agricultural
produce.
Loans are typically in US dollars with interest
rates that are market competitive. Both short-term (i.e. trade
finance) and medium terms (i.e. equipment purchase) are available
to applicants. Entities that are eligible to apply for financial
support through the ZIF include: processors and exporters of agricultural
products, input suppliers, associations and cooperatives whose
members are small-scale producers; trading companies; or exporters
of organic, ethically-traded and natural resource products. It
is anticipated that equity funding will also be available from
the ZIF in the future.
Zambian businesses that are interested in applying
or learning more about the ZATAC Investment Fund (ZIF) should
contact an Account-Executive at the ZATAC office.
